BUCKCHERRY Guitarist Says He Originally Wanted To Be A Drummer
August 15, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: BUCKCHERRY's upcoming fourth album, "Black Butterfly", is due out on September 16, and the band is now touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE, PAPA ROACH and others on Crüe Fest. The track "Too Drunk..." has been making waves since it was "leaked" in early July, and recently two new songs from "Black Butterfly", called "Don't Go Away" and "Rescue Me", were posted at their MySpace page.
After its stint on Crüe Fest, BUCKCHERRY will team up with AVENGED SEVENFOLD for a fall co-headlining tour beginning on September 16 in Moline, Illinois, which will also feature SHINEDOWN and SAVING ABEL.
BUCKCHERRY recently posted the first in a series of webisodes at MySpace chronicling the making of "Black Butterfly", which follows up 2006's "15".
Guitarist Keith Nelson says that he originally wanted to be a drummer but had to move to guitar in order to write songs. "My earliest stuff that I listened to like THE ROLLING STONES, you know, AC/DC," he said. "I started life out as a drummer. I wanted to be Peter Criss. And then later on I found it really hard to write songs on the drums, so that's kinda why I switched to guitar. And then later on, GUNS 'N ROSES, MÖTLEY CRÜE, AEROSMITH. It all made more sense to me because it was all based in the blues, you know. That's kinda where it started for me."
